Our Gardens

Our School Gardens

Our school gardens are used as an outdoor classroom where our garden educators provide standards-based curriculum to students Kindergarten through fifth grade. Garden lessons include planting, counting, measuring, observing, recording, creating, comparing, and (everyone's favorite) cooking!

Each school has a student-grown, student-led farm stand on site once a semester. Students learn entrepreneurial skills through the harvesting, packaging, marketing, and selling of their extra produce.

Our Community Gardens

21st Century Community Garden

515 South 12th Street in downtown Gadsden

Fresh produce available year-round for free to neighbors of the garden. Community Garden Days will take place one Saturday a month in the garden. We will plant seeds, weed, mulch, harvest, and EAT! We will take care of the needs of the garden and the garden will feed us! A different recipe will be highlighted each month featuring produce from the garden. *Suspended until we can safely meet together as a group.

Encompass Health Rehabilitation Garden

We maintain a vegetable garden in the courtyard of the rehab center, creating a greener space for patients and health providers alike. We gather in the garden every other week during a time we call "Mend & Tend" to discuss what is growing and share garden knowledge with each other.
